Ear up, China’s Got to Be More Cautious in Afghanistan

681 views. 2009-10-16 14:15 |

It has been a long puzzle for me during my internship in Oriental Morning Post in Shanghai when I found very rare reports about Afghanistan in almost every Chinese media, though there were blanket bombings and civilian destructions every day. Afghanistan is on China’s board, and China should ear up, or at least get the idea of what’s going on.

Geographically speaking, China and Afghanistan meet each other in Uighur Municipality, Xinjiang, in which the 7.5 riot, agitated by extremists and national separatists, just ended three months ago. China has to fight with such kinds of terrorism with Afghanistan, which has been smothered by terrorists, like Bin Laden and his Al Qaeda combined with the extreme party Taliban who seeks to throw down the current regime. We are told that the East Turkestan Islamic affiliates with their counterparts in Afghanistan. They come to Afghanistan to accept Taliban and Al Qaeda’s training and look for their backups, after which they reenter China and scheme insurgences. We need to be widely informed so as to ensure our security instead of being told that we are safe with little information and strictly-tailored realities.

Historically, it’s nearly household that American troops have been in Afghanistan for eight years, and yet, the newly appointed Gen. Stanley McChrystal is still urging for more troops. The Pentagon declared war to Afghanistan when clues became crystal that the 9.11disaster was under Taliban’s conspiracy and overthrow Taliban Regime. Howbeit, experts from Australia and Russia, according to the report in a well-known website australia.to concerned that the hidden intention of accelerating troops into Afghanistan was not limited to destroying Taliban and Al Qaeda. America and its allies were pursuing stronger and closer surveillance capabilities in Asia and Central Asia and then proceeded to take over the sovereignty. Russian Experts pointed out an inconvenient truth that NATO and the US had dispatched troops, warbirds as well as surveillances systems to the boards of Iron, Russia and China! Referring to the former two wars in history, which China was forced in out of the frontier consideration, namely the North Korean War and the Vietnam War, I think it is undoubtedly necessary for Chinese media to closely watch and dig more about American troops’ every action.

From the economic side, China is now in its epoch of blooming, and the maintenance of prosperity asks for resources from the whole world, and as a neighbor of China, Afghanistan holds large amounts of natural resources, like coppermines. A Chinese company in Jiang Xi purchased the exploitation right of Aynak Coppermine in 2008, and we have workers of a certain amount there. Michael Phillips once wrote in Wall Street Journal about how the American troops fought hard to protect Chinese roadmen in Afghanistan who were also striving hard to build the road for American troops. In a degree, American troops’ occupation benefited our country, we’ve got no choice other than focus more on the process of the battles in Afghanistan, based on which can we have a better idea of how to continue our economic tire with this Muslim country.
