I would advice those travelling to purchase travel insurance. Last month I went to San Francisco USA.
There were shops at the seaside selling tasty smelling fried fish fresh from the sea, so I bought some to try it.
After eating a few pieces, suddenly a small fishbone lodged inside my throat. It won't go in and won't come out.
The shop gave me vinegar, chilli and hot water etc but all of those did not work. Finally, I had to go to a
nearby hospital to take out the bone. I was shocked at the extremely high cost. It cost me US$600 (5,000 Rmb) to take out that small bone. The hospital said if I am not citizen and don't have insurance, it is always so expensive. Now I have to be careful when travelling and eating in future.

- jakia_zou: Hospital is a looter in every country,especially,china is more obvious.Haha yeah every country they are fleecing the patients. Already not well and still have to bear sky high charges.

- yeah a small thing can do greart damage. we all have similar accidents in life. in my experience, vinegar, chilli or hot water has no use at all when a fishbone lodges in your throat. my mom told me to swallow a big lump of rice without chewing, and it worked!

- it's dangerous to swallow some thing, it might hurt ur throat, i like fish very much, so i had many times of situation, last time, i drinked half bottle of vinegar and eat lots of oranges, several days later, the fish bone disappeared.
