Looks like I would be having dumplings for breakfast in the few days ahead. This morning I went to the seaside and bought some nice dumplings from the fishermen. Oh, prices have gone up so much haha... Love the delicious dumplings with soy sauce and taken with tea. Friends say, if you eat too much dumplings, you would not have appetite for meals. Seems it is true but who cares... haha, I would still eat dumplings.
It is sad to see that upto this day, we are affected by corruption, so we must remember the story of "Qu Yuan" which I was taught in primary school.
Qu Yuan served in the court of Emperor Huai during the Warring States (475 - 221 BC). He was a wise and erudite man. His ability and fight against corruption antagonized other court officials. They exerted their evil influence on the Emperor, so the Emperor gradually dismissed Qu Yuan and eventually exiled him. During his exile, Qu Yuan did not give up. He traveled extensively, taught and wrote about his ideas. His works, the Lament (Li Sao), the Nine Chapters (Jiu Zhang), and Wen tian, are masterpieces and invaluable for studying ancient Chinese culture. He saw the gradual decline of his mother country, the Chu State. And when he heard that the Chu State was defeated by the strong Qin State, he was so despaired that he ended his life by flinging himself into the Miluo River.

- The tiny healthy dumplings sounds very delicious. I am very hungry now. Haha. We need to work 7 days this week and will get 3 days holiday. So I decide to go home to visit my parents for dragon boat festival.

- This guy, why don't you show your picture there? Is that because you are afraid to be recognized as a Chinese? Or is that because you are too ugly and too handsome that may shock us there? Haha, i'm joking. But how could you learn about Qu Yuan so early when you are a pupil? I remembered that i learn his poem Li Sao when i was a middle or high school student. Anyway, happy Duan wu jie and enjoy yourself!

- Me? Chinese? I think it is cool to look Chinese, but I am far from that. Actually, I am low key and don't want to be recognized on the streets. People just appear shocked when I speak in Cantonese because I speak it too good so better don't shock them. My looks? Eyes big, nose tall/sharp, straight long hair, light skin, taller than others and face does not have any trace of Chinese features. Sorry to disappoint you but are you satisfied with this unconventional look? Handsome? I may not fall into that category but I do receive pleasant and excited reaction from most of the people I meet anywhere so I guess I am quite welcome, not objectionable and not from another planet. In fact, my photo is miniaturized in my avatar and you would find it there. That's me although taken a few years ago.

What? you only learn about Qu Yuan in middle school? How can? I remember clearly in Primary 4 or 5, I had a book with pictures about China folk tales and festivals and the story of Qu Yuan was there.
