One friend appears again!

I have not checked my mail box for a long time,and when I opened the mail box today,mail from Jack suddenly caught my eyes .He used to be my teacher who ever taught us writing and listenning.Actually ,he was a postgraduate student at that time,so he was not much older than us.He is good at translation and specializes in literary.The most profound impact he made on me is that he led me to the literary world.I was not interested in any classical works until he showed us the beauty and power in the literary.With his introduction,I began to read Jane Eyre,Wuthering Height,Pride and Prejudice and so on.I immersed myself in the ocean of literary at that peroid,I was deeply touched by those plots again and again.In the very beginning,I just exchanged my ideas about the classical works with him,but later ,with time passed by,we became thicker and thicker and our conversation was not just confined to study.We talked about our daily life,our friends ,our sorrows and joys.
One day,when I studied in the classroom,he sent me a message saying that he admired me very much and wanted me to be his girlfriend.To be honest,I felt greatly shocked to see the message,I never thonght that he will fall in love with me.You know he was very cynical ,very high-hearted and very knowledgable,how come did he have crush on a girl like me?It soon reminded me of JaneEyre and Mr Rochestor.I wan single then but I had got one I love,so I told him direactly that he was not my type and hoped that he would find someone better in the near future.
Later,we still kept in touch with each other but not as frequently as before.Then I left school for intership without saying goodbye in the end of April.Two months later,I had to go back to my school for thesis defense.Those days I was busy with my paper and one night my good friends called,asking me to translate one abstract for her.I was too busy,more importantly,I was not confident in my translation.Therefore ,I thought of him,I thought it was just a piece cake for him.I called him and he seemed very surprised and happy.I told him my intention,but he said he was helping Zhao Li ,an excellent girl in our college,modify her paper and it will take him a long time ,yet he promised to translate the abstract for me the next day.I was happy to hear that,and we talked something about our present life.After finishing talking,Zhao LI called me back and I can feel she was a bit angry from her sound.To be frank,I did not know why.Afterwards,I was told that she was Jack' girlfriend right now.Oh my god!How come I got no idea of their relationship.Nobody told me!If I knew it ,I absolutely would not call him.How embarrassing!
Subsequently,we lost in touch.However,today I received his message again.

- I am glad you have the chance to talk to an old friend again. I have always thought that it is a shame that sometimes people sacrifice platonic friendships with friends of the opposite sex because they are dating. In a better world, we could all be friends all the time, no matter what gender we are.

- friendship between opposite sex does exist,but it's hard to keep going purely for a long time.Just personal opinion
