Today, I would like to introduce an American lady whose name is Virginia. I knew her in 2006 when I was training with my colleagues in the state of Illinois, USA.
Virginia was working for Illinois University. She was Director of the Training Program for Overseas and she retired a couple of years ago.
During our stay in the US, Virginia invited us to her home and treated us a local meal. It was an impressive and unforgetable day.
When we were near to arrive at her home, we were excited to see one Five-Starred Red Flag--the national flag of the People's Rubublic of China--fluttering in the breeze. We were so surprised. And the sense of pride was rising immediately from the bottom of my heart. We saw our national flag in an American common community! Wo, what a feeling!
Besides the flag pole, there was Mrs. Virginia similing to us. "Welcome to my home." She said pleasantly. We asked whose flag pole it was. She told us that it was her family's. It was she that raised the national flag of China. In order to express her hospitality and fully respect to her Chinese friends, she flew China's national flag! We were all moved by the way she did.
We took pictures in front of our national flag to keep the emotional moment in our memories forever.
What a lovely, friendly American lady.
