I just read an article about car sales and gasoline consumption in China.
Car sales in China this year are rising sharply even though the whole world is suffering from the economic downturn. But at the same time, gasoline consumption in our country has stayed flat. It seems so weird or implausible that some doubt the Chinese government secretly bought hundreds of thousands of cars and parked them somewhere.
Of course, it's impossible or no necessary for the government of China to do so. But why do the car sales leap while gasoline consumed in China has been flat?
Maybe the oil price is the main factor. Our government has adjusted the oil prices more times this year that discouraged many car owners to drive. I find there are many cars in our community parking there and untouched for a long time. Secondly, the traffic situation is another reason. Driving a car in the rush hour is not faster than riding a bus or even walking. Traffic jam often makes drivers annoying. They have to choose another way of transportation.
And what do you think of that?
