An online survey by a Japanese railway company shows the top 10 bad manners that commuters complain the most in Japan. On the top 10 list, noisy conversation and loud music from headphones on the subways and commute trains are the first two offenders while cellphone ringtones is in the fourth place. Talking louder or making noises in public places are regarded as ill-mannered conducts by Japanese.
From this survey, we can see that people need not to be disturbed even when they are in public transit network. In this case, good manners represent civilization and respect.
As far as Chinese passengers are concerned, there are many bad manners that need to be corrected. It's not unusual to find passengers pushing and shoving when getting on and/or getting off buses, talking on cellphones loudly and not giving up seats for seniors and pregnant women. Some passengers carry bulky luggages to ride in rush hours, making the crowded bus more crowd and bringing about more complains, even quarrels.
Confucius once said, "Do as you would be done by." Bad manners do no good to not only others but you. So pay more attention to our conducts and try to be well-mannered. We will benefit from that.
