Hot pots are popular in China, among which dog hot pot is a typical dish in some parts of China, especially during cold winters. Some people like to eat dog meat. However, people would be jailed in the near future if caught eating dog meat.
A draft law has been completed to protect animals from being abused, hurt or killed in a cruler manner, and will be raised for legislation this April, according to media. People who are caught eating dog or
cat meat would be detained for up to 15 days and fined 5,000 yuan,
while businesses would be fined from 100,000 to 500,000 yuan.
The report caused debate on the Internet. Some say dogs are our loyal friends and eating dogs is shameless. Others claim local economy would be hurt by the ban. What do you think?
