Fairness and Justice

866 views. 2010-3-14 20:07 |Individual Classification:Comment|

"I think fairness and justice are brighter than the sunlight," Premier Wen told the reporters from home and abroad at the NPC press conference this morning.

Justice means giving each person what he or she deserves or, in more traditional terms, giving each person his or her due. Justice and fairness are closely related terms that are often today used interchangeably.

With the rapid development of China's economy, the social fairness and justice becomes more and more significant.  Nowadays, justice is no longer a castle in the air, but the basic demand for the average people.  People need to be treated equally, and must be treated the same.

Just like what Premier Wen said, there is social injustice in our country.  For example, the migrant workers are paid less, and soemtimes could not get their payments on time.  Their children could not go to school like those who live in the cities.  It's obvious that they get the different treatment, which is a kind of injustice.

Fairness and justice are a kind of social value and ethics, which people have been seeking and upholding constantly.  As the philosopher Immanuel Kant and others have pointed out, human beings are all equal in this respect: they all have the same dignity, and in virtue of this dignity they deserve to be treated as equals.

One month ago, Premier Wen also told the media that people should live a better life with more dignity.  Only with social fairness and justice can people live a dignified life.

In my opinion,it is impossible to be equal to everyone in the world. When we are born, what we own is different. The people who live in the village in the remote mountains have to do farm work all their life. The people who are fortunately born in a rich family can gain whatever they want without any efforts. The history teacher used to say that the desire to wealth is the root of human's development. Those who feel unfair strive to loot
what other own and then the war happened. That is the principle of the world. As a result, selfishness is the ordinary power of human being.

fairness and justice are the perpetual goal we seek and uphold.though the road ahead will be long .the climb will be steep.we won't give up.I admit that selfishness is the ordinnary power fo human being.but not the persuit of a society. As the government. It is obligated to make the people live a fairer and more justicial life.

I don't there is an absolute thing in the world. What we are discussing now is relative justice.  That's the point.

i think fairness is harder to be accomplished.human beings are so complicated that no one can predict what will happen to her or him, maybe this moment they decided to do by the rules but who can promise they will keep on according the principles, like the old saying:even a worm will turn. men can do anything for their ambition even beyond themselves control. no matter in material ,in physical or mental, sometimes men are the crulest animal in the world for their endless imaginations...

I think fairness is relative.  And no thing in the world is absolute.  Don't treat it as sth untouchable.
