A Opening Remarks on the one child policy

838 views. 2009-12-4 23:33 |

Good morning, everyone.

Today, I’m so honored to be here to talk about the china’s one child policy with my dear debaters.

Firstly, let’s review that what’s the one child policy? The one-child policy is the population control policy of China. The Chinese government refers to it under the official translation of family planning policy. It officially restricts the number of children married urban couples can have to one, although it allows exemptions for several cases, including rural couples, ethnic minorities, and parents without any siblings themselves.

Secondly, let’s see what benefits the policy has brought to us.

The first one is the impact on health care.

It is reported that the focus of China on population control helps provide a better health service for women and a reduction in the risks of death and injury associated with pregnancy. At family planning offices, help is provided for pregnant women to closely monitor their health. In various places in China, the government rolled out a ‘Care for Girls’ program, which aims at eliminating cultural discrimination against girls in rural and underdeveloped areas through subsidies and education.

The second one is the promotion on the standard of living.

The individual savings rate has increased since the introduction of the One Child Policy. It has been partially attributed to the policy in two respects that the average Chinese household expends fewer resources on the necessity of living, whereas they can gave more to their children, which can be both good to the family and society.

The third one is on the economic growth.

The original intent of the one-child policy was economic, to reduce the demand of natural resources, maintaining a steady labor rate, reducing unemployment caused from surplus labor, and reducing the rate of exploitation. All of this has vigorously confirmed the right of the police.

What’s more, our society will continue to be confused those annoying things mentioned above. So it is obviously that the implement of the one child policy is necessary.

Last but not least, let all of us to think what our country will be if the policy had not been carried out. It will be awful.

What’s your opinion, please write down and share with everyone else.

Thanks!!!!

The more children you have, the more stress you have... ...

It's wise for our government to carry out the one-child policy. If it had done 10 years earlier, our generation will not feel so stressful in society. Maybe almost all of us could afford a house and don't need to worry so much about unemployment.

one child policy means the next generation will have no direct relatives.

Realy,I think each country has their own tough problems to deal with. just had the government implemented the policy ten years,no one can make sure that our society will be better now.

maybe you are right. but don't you think that the policy is necessary for China? We can have no relatives but not the future of our children.
