Mom’s birthday is coming and I have already prepared a present, but I am sorry that I can’t say “Happy birthday” to her face to face.

Before I go to college, my family seldom celebrate the members’ birthdays, just the most general wishes like “Happy birthday” or a nice dinner. Mom and Dad think that the process of growing up is a privacy duty for individuals that no one can prepare the way in the place of you. And the birthday is just a memorial day that needs to be understood and experience by oneself. But in fact, I think they just do not like the noise of the party or something like that, or they may feel their life is disturbed. Hehe…

Mom is an English teacher and my first English teacher, too. When I was baby, she began to read English and Chinese prose or fairy tales to me. Then when I went to primary school, she started to teach me English normally. However, she just hoped me to catch the methods of studying from learning English instead of learning it to the best. So even though it seems that I have been learning English for more than ten years, my English is just so-so, but indeed, I have set up an appropriate system of studying habits for myself, which makes me learn faster and easier.

Dad is a mechanical engineer. Actually, he is working most time. He affects me instead of teaching me directly. I have learned personal responsibility from his hard work. He is really a quiet Dad, almost no words, and only does what he should do to support the family. He really likes playing “the game of go”, on the internet, for I can’t reach his level. But he often loses the game when he plays with those invisible rivals; maybe that’s just what he wants, to improve himself.

Mom and Dad got known each other as they were children and they lived in the same building in a small town where I was born as well. It is really a beautiful place, quiet, peaceful and pure, without any contamination. I know that their love story has no touching plot but be admired for it is the most perfect marriage at that time. Their personalities and lives are similar to their marriage, quiet but fortunate.

I know my parents wish me a peaceful life like theirs. But who could tell what will happen years later? Nobody could tell what my life will be like in the future except my choices. I will try my best.
