why are civil servants so popular ?

Tonight,when I read the 21st Century,I find a thoughtprovoking title called"number of civil servant applications is a sad comment on society. I really can't figure out civil servant's definition when I was young,even I were a high school student.just so many adults told us,"u are young ,work hard and enter a good university,If u were a civil servant, u would have a wonderful future."then I just caught its vague meaning.
Now, I got it. the civil servants work for government,its literal meaning.and I collect some information in newspaper and I summarize it simply.
Frist, most importantly, the job,civil servants have a better pay and benefits ,there is the main reason why so many graduate grads covet it.In addition to,because of increased difficulties for college grads looking for jobs.
Second, their jobs are secure and stable and they are ofen have enough spare time to go into business for themselves.and they will have rich pension when they have a retirement.
Finally,civil servants enjoy more administrative power or even privileges than ordinary citizens do.
In a word, its natural to see thousands of peoples competing for a few coveted gverment openings.In my humble opinion, it's a waste of resources for many highly educated young people to devote their lives to administrative jobs that are not suited to their abilities.why do we pursue our goal which we really expect to do.It is well known that the harsh reality and pressure push us to do it.And its needed to think about it seriously.

- It relects the bad employment situation. Companys, especially joint ventures, tend to give lower salary and at the same time require high strenth work. That's why being a civil servant and working in schools become more and more popular~
