People sometimes do things they do not enjoy doing. Do you agree?
Not Always as You Wish
“Always as I wish” is a blessed yet unrealistic fantasy. That we exist in the society as connected units rather than complete individuals has shattered our dreams of doing whatever we like. Through interrelationship with others, we accomplish our daily activities by continuous adjustments and compromises in order to fit in. Undoubtedly, we should do things we do not enjoy doing from time to time.
We “go against” our wishes out of certain kind of responsibilities. We are responsible for our bodies so that we drag ourselves out of beds with sleepy eyes for morning exercises and restrain the thirsty for a big meal only to lower our cholesterol; we are responsible for our living and families so that quite a number of us are currently taking, or will take the jobs that are far away from our original expectations; we are responsible for some special ones in life so that a man will not escape an endless shopping with his wife, however bored and exhausted he is, and a woman will give up everything then move to the countryside to support her husband however much she miss the downtown life.
We’ll never gain brand-new experience without breaking out of our comfort zones. Imagine that there is a man free from outside influences, who is at ease with what he enjoys doing thus he won’t dare anything fresh. For all his life, the poor man will be stuck in his little comfort zone yet miss the precious opportunity to give the thousand-times-bigger outside world a glance. Pathetic as he is, he might die without knowing he could be an excellent public speaker, only because he thought he didn’t enjoy standing in front of others.
Aware of the evident fact that Life is not always as we wish, why not quit ourselves from complaining about those unpleasant tasks and push ourselves, at least try, to tackle them as well as we can? After all, there is no one without the love for a painstaking achievement, even if it is born from something we hate. Therefore, next time when a seemingly unpleasant task is before us, go and settle it. That’s the pain of growing; that is the fun of life.
