MY argumentation

Is the existence of pay gap reasonable?

The argument about the pay gap is one of the pop discussions in recent social; mostly does it connect with feminist or sexual discrimination aagainst females. Columnists such like Amy Joyce, Steve Chapman and Van Dyk have represented their view on this issue. What is the source of the existence of the pay gap? Whether should it being in our society?

The reason held by those opponents is that nature equality is among all human beings; the equivalence of every creature given life by god. Neither should the rich look down upon the poor, the white discriminate the black, nor certainly should females get less pay than males in the same working condition. That’s why they argue about the un-equivalent nature of the pay gap.

I seriously agree that they have reason, but I do not stand by their side when they put forward their conclusion. In my own heart, pay gap is reasonable. The grounds of argument what I will put forward is exactly the same one raised by opponents------because of the equivalence, a man is no doubt earn more than a woman. For confirming this point, I have several lemmas.

The essential logic is the different role that male and female play in our society; believe it or not, it is a nature principle that men have more responsibilities and pressures than women. Physically men are superior, which lead to a greater duty in the aspect of earn money and rise up their families. On the other hand, endowed with pregnancy and nurtured, women have their own destiny------to deal with work in home, including educated children and dealing with the housework.

This work division is not formed under the discrimination of female, but came out by calculating the self-advantage of both sides. Females have genius in doing housework. Women are more careful and patient, especially when teaching their babies and fight for the dirty clothes while men are always aggressive and impetuous, with which they may be successful in their business, but will never conquer any triviality in his house. It is an efficient work separation that man work out and woman in.

Most women are willing to earn some money by themselves as long as they have enough time dealing with both family and career, so they come to work. Many of them work as excellent as their male counterpart, but they earn less, which lead to the argument of the pay gap.

It is seem that women and men have equal working achievement. However, if we search deeper, we will find that at a potential level, man have working tendency. It is because involving into a career is just a second business for a woman but the very one for a man. If there is some accident happened in family, what a man likely to do is to work harder than before in order to support as much as he can in finance while a woman may give up her career and turn to her own business, which is her essential part of responsibility that man cannot replace. In another word, man is also advanced in their field of work, at lease in a potentials view.

Commonly can a man contribute himself into his career both physically and psychologically, but rarely can a woman give up her family lives and absorbed in her business work. The body structure gives the role of being a mother, to give birth to babies and suckle them instead of making money outside. It is the reason that why pay gap exist, and it is reasonable and equal to either “full-time” men or “part-time” women.

Pay gap is a good question for us to discuss; it's a traditional topic, and a very realistic issue. But I think, we only can have it discussed, and cann't get it changed.
