On May 12th,2008, an extremely serious earthquake exploded at Wenchuan. The huge power of this earthquake hit more than half of the China mainland, and shocked the whole world. That was totally a tragedy, the damage of the earthquake is beyond your count ability. Thousands huses were tore down, thousands of schools were not exist any longer, millions of people lost their homes and many of them were seriously wounded or even lost their lives.

   Every time I saw such scenes on TV, I would feel a nameless scare. Not only because the terrible and the bloody scenes had scared me, but also because it made me think that I could die suddenly and unexpectedly.

   To tell the truth, the very moment when the earthquake happened I was in classroom with my classmates in Xi’an. We were having class of Journalism Reporting and Writing, when suddenly the floor began shaking. And then we saw the lights, the TV and everything in the classroom began shaking. That really gave us a fright, a few seconds later, we rushed out the building and went to the plain ground. After knowing that the earthquake happened in Wenchuan, and the damage was serious, we were all critically surprised. This terrifying experience made me think of death, which I’d never thought of connecting with me. Because I’d never been so close to death. Suppose the power were stronger or the building was less firm, I could be buried in ruins and waiting to be found.

   After the idea of death coming into my mind. I thought a lot of things, about my family, about my life, and about the meaning of my existence in this world. If I were die, my parents would be heart-broken of course. And what about others? Would they feel sad, or would they think that is simply a nobody’s death, or maybe even feel happy? I didn’t know, I had no accurate answers to those questions. I thought that depends on what kind of a person I am, and how did I get along with peoples around. I felt ashamed that I’m afraid I am sort of a loser. I have many friends which is undoubtedly, but as to true intimate friends, I’m afraid there is so little I can number among. What a failure! So I made my mind that I should communicate more frequently with my friends, and I should learn to be a fabulous listener. Besides, I also had thought about what would I feel regretful about if I still had consciousness after I died. The answer rose into my mind including that, I would regret that I’ve never traveled in Beijing though my hometown is near to it. And I would also regret that I haven’t read enough books as a college student.
