I think when people work, they put their emotions aside and work with their intelligence. So one who is excellent at work is one who can focus on it and forget other trifles, such as his personality, family, relationship,etc. If he happens to have emotional problems and lets them disturb his work,he won't be successful. However, one's personal life counts largely on his emotion aspects: whether he is considerate, pleasant or not.
So one has to deal with things respectively to be successful. Work is work, and life is life.
