A new answer to how to learn English

For years, friends of mine asked me this question “How to learn English well?”. At that time, my answer was : read more, write more and practice more. Unfortunately, the consequences were that they had all the “more” I had said, except for their improvements “more”.

Now, if someone still asks that question, firstly, I’ll require that “what for”. Do you learn English for going out or just to pass the English exams in our country. 

Definitely, people in English-speaking countries regard English as a true language for communication, but not as a tool to choose talents. As a result, they concentrate on the expressions. Hardly could they use a sentence, if there is a phrase of the same means. Also, they could use a word to replace a phrase. They use English simply and clearly in order to be known.

But in china, it is another story. The teachers focus on the grammar. The tests will turn a easy sentence into a long and complicated one which make your eyes ache. Just like me recently, I read a book An advanced English grammar for the graduated students test. Maybe those are the reasons of “Chinglish”.

So, if you want to be out, you can practice more of your oral English. If not, you’d better stay in your quiet classrooms staring at your books concerning of the grammar and the words, because many abnormal English texts await for you.
