Life Is Like A Play

                       Life Is Like A Play

I planned to keep on writing my blog today.....But a piece of terrible news just came to me..... The old man called Tan who lived in my neighbourhood is dead! What ? I just can't believe that!He is an old man with good manners and abundant knowledge, and he treated me just like his own granddaughter in the past, before i got into university....

Of course, i understand why he will die, he is 82 years old now and death is quite a normal phenomenon for him. I just feel sad about his death for he is such a kind person that i have never thought about that God will take him away one day.

He was born in 1928 in Hongkong, where was still governed by Britain , he was born rich and had a good knowledge at an english school, and he worked in a radio station after graduation since radio was still a very hot media at that time in HK. When he knew more about what happened to the other places in china from the current affairs, he finally made a decision to go back to his hometown——Kaiping in Guangdong province ,and restart his career here.

Kaiping is not a developed country, and the people here value the customs more than the rules, even now in the 21st century. He couldn't adapt himself to the living style here at first, because his dress and his way to talk was too formal for the local residents here.

He wears a suit all the time when out, he talks like a gentleman in an evening party, and he keeps the pace with the current affairs in china and the world. He insist that one should be polite to show his respect for others.

He seemed to be hard to get along with others. People will laugh at him but he doesn't care. He likes children and often teaches them how to write and calculate. When i was young, he ever helped me with my english. He even took me to see the movies in the weekend and talked about the themes of the films_ on the way home.

People got to like him one day, finally. They begin to pay attention to this man and communicate with him, and amazed to find that he was so clever with extensive knowledge. The man can solve many kinds of problems for them. They take pride in having this smart man as their neighbour.

The news of his death was a real thunderbolt to us. He do not have many family members, because those who ever lived in HK had died and he only has a wife here. But you guess what? Almost all the neighbourhood here came to his funeral and mourn his death.

I know anyone will die someday, but i will not think of this man. i am not very familiar with him but i really respect him from the bottom of my heart. After his death, i just had a feeling that we human strive to succeed for all our lives. We can escape anything and overcome any hardship, but death.

My father said, you see life is like a play, now he is just leaving for another play in somewhere else. Even knowing it makes sense, i still can't help weeping. I still remember how the housewives in my neighbourhood talked about him just a few weeks ago:

"He is so gentle and well behaved, and he knows a lot. You can tell he must be a handsome man when young for his face is still shining at this age. He is absolutely not like the 82-year-old men!"

Then i suddenly realized that, he had a very beautiful english name. Edward. His name is Edward Tan.

the only unchanged thing in this world is just the change.
birth, aging, illness and death,it's just the circle of the life.
let's close the eyes mourning and praying for the passed noble soul.

We can escape from the rules of nature, however, before we leave the world, the most importance when summoning up momeries o the past, we can say firmly "we don't regret". I think Edward Tan can utter this sentence without hesitation.

sorry to hear about that.... life sometimes is really realistic....and i find myself sometimes a bit too naive...just hoping everything will stay well and keeps on going...so after this...i figure out that we should treasure what we own now.....
