Mr. Ho let me give him some background of a client from UK. After that, he began today’s lesson: how to deal with interpersonal relations for a graduate. It took time, indeed, to listen to Mr. Ho’s story (he received a phone call and talked for almost 30 minutes). Wenmei said it’s a waste of talent that Mr. Ho didn’t work as a professor in colleagues (but Mr. Ho used to be so). However, I have to say every time I have a long chat with Mr. Ho, I feel the pressure, the pressure to work harder, the pressure to grow up, the pressure to be perfect.
“I’ve expectations on you but I won’t tell you what my expectations are.” Mr. Ho put his elbows on the desk with hands under his lower jaw. He was looking at me, smiling.”I will let you know after you have worked for three days. And, I hope you can grow up, grow up to the level which is higher than my expectations.”
I failed to find any words to reply. I want to know his expectations on me; I want to how the meaning of “the level higher than my expectations”; I want to ask how Mr. Ho thinks of my performance so far…but no words were uttered from my mouth.
“I will try my best.” I looked at Mr. Ho, “And I will not let you disappointed.”
Harder, harder, harder, harder, harder work…
Be responsible to myself; be responsible to my choice.
