Jennifer’s leaving, as Tony said, teached me a lot. It makes me understand that it’s not your willing that decide whether you are qualified for a job or not. It’s your capacity. If you are not equipped with the relavant abilities, then no matter how strong your wish is, sorry, you are not suitable for the job.

Working together for almost three months, I know clearly how serious Jennifer’s attitude toward this job, how hard working she is so that she can win the recognition from Director Tony. Every morning, she came back to the office earlier than me, much earlier. Every evening, she was the last one who left the office. About nine o’clock. I know clearly about this. And I appreciate her efforts very much.

However, it’s not your efferts that amounts; it’s your efficiency. Her poor computer operation disables her to help me to do the typing and translation quickly. Her strong personality rejects the fact that she has to be my assistant…I don’t know how to continue……

She’s hard working, I can see; but she is, to some extent, useless.

“Imagine, if you ask for a leave tomorrow? Is there any work you need to pass to Amy or me? Is there anything that can’t go on without you? If yes, to what extent?” I asked her. It’s last Saturday. the day she came for me for suggestion, a suggestion so that she could improve herself in a short time and get Tony’s permission to stay at the office. Tony talked with her in last Friday. He told her that she may not suit this position. “I can’t do that.” I said, last Friday, before Tony talked with Jennifer.

“I know. That’s why I don’t ask you to say this to Jennifer.” Tony smiled. “You know, you are still not mature enough for this manager position. You are too sentimental. You need to change.”

Yes, I am sentimental. But, I can’t do that. I can’t say “you’d better leave the company for you are not qualified for the job”. I am not able to say these words. I can’t…Thus, last weekend, I escaped. I went to find comfort from Clare in Dongguan……

Nothing can change Tony and Sharon’s decision. She left yesterday. Jennifer left yesterday.

But it’s until that moment I find she is a strong girl. Her eyes are not red. She is not sad. Perhaps she is ready for this day…

We huged.

“Thank you.” Jennifer said.

“Though we can’t be colleague to each other, we are still friends.” I smiled.

She gave me a smile also. “I still have a lot want to talk with you, but…” she paused, then smiled again, “maybe next time.”

Then she said farewell to Amy, to Yan…Then, pressed button, pushed the door, left.

Yes, Jennifer lest yesterday. Her leaving teaches me: you need to grow up, mentally. Less sentimental, more rational…
