After A Graduation Ceremony

675 views. 2010-5-30 14:44

The last entry was like centuries ago to me, not just because I have been indulging myself into piles of quite tedious, lengthy and time-consuming assignments compelled by the uni, hardly to take a time out for any irrelevants, but the lack of sense of belonging also had a certain level of effect to mess up my time concept.

Well, Sydney was a bad bad place for me as in my previous claim made in last winter, regardless of it actually has been ranked at top 10 in the world for the best cities for living many times. It was reasonable for me to feel depressed at the first beginning as sentimental as I am. I admit that I panicked. It’s nothing I was proud of but nothing to shame as well.

To my great surprise, I survived, both the city and the Uni, and to my greater surprise, I found myself quite ecstatic about Sydney nearing the end of my second semester in Sydney U. I would never say I enjoyed Sydney so much that I would rather give up my summer vacation to stay in this city. I miss home, but I also start missing Sydney even when I am right here. A very tempting thing about studying in Sydney U is the ultimate ceremony for graduation, and I had a chance to witness this sacred event for I was invited to the graduation ceremony of one of my friend.

The ceremony was on this Friday in the Great Hall of the Uni, Graduates were wearing a gown and waiting outside of the gate since the tight schedule only allowed certain people’s attendance during a registered period of time. Food and drinks were served in the left aisle and in the middle of the hall was a desk selling graduation souvenirs crowded by a surge of students. After entering the church where the ceremony was held, I was truly amazed by its sanctity. Permeating through the Oxford Window, light was alighted onto the statues standing beside, making the church seem quite peaceful. After a short speech from the chancellor, graduates began to be awarded orderly. This process took a very long time and truthfully I was quite bored. I took some photos of the ceremony to kill some time.

I was very happy for my friend cause she made through the whole three years and obtained what she was yearning for at the end of the day. But meantime, I was hoping and worrying for my uncertain future, wondering if I can make it through just like what she did.

It’s never too late to start anyway.
