The Kite Runner

882 views. 2010-1-26 16:47

The Kite Runner spans over three decades of great changes in Afghanistan to describe the betrayal, love, sin and redemption among people. When I finished the book, what appeared in my mind first is the narrator of the book-Amir and his maturation of being good again.

Most people like Hassan very much including me. However, Hassan is a man who possesses all the virtues. As a human, he is so perfect in humanity. While Amir compared to Hassan, is a man that formed with character flaws. But such human like Amir is more like a human. That is the reason why Amir impresses a lot. It is a common sense that people always make mistakes and do something guilty to some others in some circumstances. When I think of the life of Amir, I asked myself the question: what will I do in the situation as Amir? If my father cares another child much more than me, I would probably manage to keep away him from my father, which is a reaction that most of human beings tend to have. So lots of the time, I have the same feeling even sympathize with him. However, at the same time, I admire Amir. There's hardly any man can have the courage to redeem their guilt, sometimes even to admit it. But Amir has done this adorable thing that most people are unlikely to do. He admits and remedies his mistake at the risk of his life and realizes his redemption.

And then, from the story, I know some information about the current life of Afghanistan, from which I realize that war really took place and is taking place in some part of the world. People of those places are suffering from the poor and chaotic state brought by the war. While in our country there is no great chaos and we live as a whole in a peaceful environment. Therefore it is evident that our current life is relatively much fragrant and we should cherish it by doing more meaningful things to our country, to our family and friends, and also to ourselves.

Another benefit I get from the book is that forgiveness is always possible. Even people with Even in people with overwhelmingly good qualities, there is usually a human flaw, which causes enormous problems for others and for him. For example, in the book, Amir forgives his father for having another child except for him. Amir also forgives himself for his betrayal to Hassan. Forgiveness makes him happy again, heals the relationship between his friends, wife and families. When comes to us, forgiveness can maintain our relationship with our friends and families, male our life happy and harmonious. The greater virtue is in forgiveness and not in Revenge.

The Kite Runner is an unforgettable tale of fathers and sons, of friendship and betrayal, emotionally grip you from Afghanistan in the final days of the monarchy to the war of the present.
