Three years ago, driven by the same dream, by sweat and blood,we survived the "massacre" of college entrance examination and inched our way to the same destination --- Chang Sha university, (my future alma mater), running out of steam but bearing illusions for a next bright station of life. Much like that an ordinary cocoon transforming into a beautiful butterfly, we said goodbye to our independent and pure high school life and stepped into another world full of wonders, dreams, and adventures yet waiting for our exploration. It's time we put down books a little while and took a peek and tour of what really college life is all about.
On the thought of the memory, the undertows of recollection once again pull me back to my freshman year,it's as fresh as yesterday: my first grade was a dawdling year. If you had the talent of changing to harmonize with new surroundings as quickly as a chameleon, college life would turns out to be only a piece of cake: you get the picture of it, set your goals and lay out your plans elaborately and you reach the peak of success smoothly. But reality appears to be the other way around for a great majority of college students. Standing at the another cross road, they lose their directions, wider choices are open to them. Some are blinded , some are perplexed, some get cold feet and some go astray...
High school teacher carries the wrong information that college is all about fun, no more full scheduled timetable, sundry extracurricular activities are accessible, you can extend your interests from music , dance, calligraphy to martial arts, skating,cartoon......
Take me for an example, i joined English association and guitar and dancing clubs with tons of hopes at the very beginning, later on, because of various kinds of personal reasons, and the broke-downs inside the clubs ,i was forced to quit without even getting the hang of them both. Thus,i gave up these so-called "distractions" for study... However,I spent most time on the way and in the classroom with friends -- going back to dorm after class of a long distance, enjoying the eye-catching scenery, gossiping(oops,i was naive,ha ha), attending tedious lectures, and joining inane activities. What i learned from it is , you should always concentrate on study along with some pastimes, don't put the cart before the horse.
You have no freedom here in college, though it's claimed the legendary "paradise of freedom" you are pushed to do for the best of school, leaders, teachers at the sacrifices of our precious time and vigor and patience... We fight for this life,we pay for this life, but we live for others with our patience being challenged and dreams being crushed and crushed... What are we here for?? To learn the trick of how to be fake?! To get the idea of how lame and irresponsible a teacher could be?! To learn to bribe and corrupt so that we could get a better life ?! To waste as much as time we can so that we'd find out later how precious it could be?! To have our personalities being strangled so that we'd be standard high school--oriented college student ?!
Give us a break, please! Only in memory of my existence in my college~
Though, i love my school for what it has given me rather than what it has cost me.
