In my opinion, action movie is not a good material to a beginner.Literary movie may be better for the dialogue is more and longer and at the same time the speed of speech is lower.

I want to tell you some difficulties you will meet.
First,I am sorry to tell you many chinese movies have not English subtitles.Even they have,it is hard to download.As a result,you can search for some movies which have won prizes in the world.They have both chinese and English subtitles.(In fact,only literary and kung-fu movies of china can get that kind of prizes.)In addition, you know,chinese is a special language for it has too much various dialects.So you can not avoid to hearing something "strange"and "differ from norm".Don't be care
!Last but not least,Chinese literary movies are based on its own culture.I admit as a chinese,I can not fully understand them.If you can not accept them,you can begin with some dubbed movies because the dubbers' language are absolutely standard and the backgound of these movies are familiar to you.

These movies have two subtitles and have win global prize.They are boring but profound.You can try them if you just want to listen to the way people speak.

I'm not overly concerned with subtitles. As a teacher, I always tell my student not to watch movies with Chinese subtitles because than they think in Chinese while they view the movie. If I truly want to learn Chinese I will watch it with Chinese subtitles so I'll think Chinese and not English.
The various dialects are very strange. I'm used to the Beijing accent and it sounds very normal but some other dialects sounds like completely different languages!
Thanks for the list of movies. I will watch them and let you know what I think!

I love this movie very much. Actually Living is a popular novel which are written by Yu Hua. In the novel, the story is more tragic.
