Please tell me that someone else is watching, The Pacific?
This HBO miniseries might not be for everyone.
It chronicles World War Two in the Pacific theater of combat against the Japanese from the American perspective.
It's based on truth and actually follows the stories of actual soldiers that fought against the Imperial Japanese Army.
It is very violent but so is any war. The English might be a little hard to follow but the feelings are not hard to follow. It's a great story with talented actors. Check it our if you like war and history.
There are three out of ten episodes out right now. Here's the first one.

- sunnyv: Seems one has to know the history of WWII to appreciate that movie. Love to watch it. I wonder if it is the movie which has the famous Japanese war slIt helps to have a general understanding of the war, but this mini-series doesn't require a great background in the logistics of the war. It's pretty straight forward and uses real people and real stories for the basis of the script and plot.
It's pretty powerful and it's interesting to see combat that some of my family were involved in.
I'm not sure about the Bonsai quotation. This isn't a movie either, you might have it mixed up with something else.
Check it out, it's worth seeing. Though I prefer Band of Brothers more.
