In my mind, stubborn is a derogratory term, while 倔强 in Chinese is kind of a appreciative term~~

It is good to be stubborn if it means you are determined to do something good and stubbornly refuse to give up.  It is bad to be stubborn and fail to do something good just because it would be inconvenient.  So "stubborn" can be both good and bad.
