- lijuanandrea: why there is ice when flowers are bloomingDaffodils often bloom very early and get caught by cold weather. These were the earliest bloomers, in February, when we had an ice storm a few days after they bloomed. It can happen very late here. Once year, we received 20 inches of snow on my birthday, April 20! By that time, everything is blooming and the trees are getting new leaves.
