American Food: Enchiladas

631 views. 2010-9-18 08:56 |Individual Classification:Food|

I noticed some enchilada sauce in the grocery store.  I had never made enchiladas at home, so I decided to give it a try.  Enchiladas are a Mexican food.

First, I opened a can of fake meat (soybean meat substitute) and oiled the baking pans.

Then I heated a can of chili beans (pinto beans with seasoning) and started to saute some onions, the dinner cuts, and other fresh vegetables.

I added fresh mushrooms, the kind that are always available in American stores. I think they are in the genus Agaricus.

While the vegetables and "meat" and beans were heating, I opened a package of tortillas, another Mexican food. Flour, water, oil, salt, and

Next I filled each tortilla with the cooked ingredients.

I rolled the tortillas into an enchilada shape and placed them with the open edge down in the baking pans.

I had first added a little enchilada sauce into the bottom of the pans. After adding the enchiladas, I covered them with enchilada sauce.

Yummy! In Spanish you pronounce every vowel: tor tea yah (tortilla), ehn chill la da (enchilada).

英文: I have to chuckle when I think about updating American fools (see what you wrote!).  Better English: use a space after a comma or period.  Also: "I very much enjoy . . ." or "I really enjoy . . ." is better wording.

Actually, it is quiet simple to prepare.  Heat ups some beans and vegetables, put it together, and stick it in the oven!

Anything is fine.  Most Americans do not use titles.  As a child, I was taught to call my relatives by their titles (Uncle Gordon, Aunt Marie, etc) to be respectful.  But today's children often call even their parents by the first names (Gordon, Marie).  The times are changing, as we say.

So, I don't really like "Mr." unless it is formal: Mr. Hyatt.  Since you are my friends, there's not reason to be formal (I would not use  您).  You can call me Phil, Philip, Sedgehead, pH, or anything you want!  If you feel it necessary to add Uncle or something, that's ok.  But it sounds strange to me!

I suppose that is correct.  The fake meat would be hard to find, but you can use real meat!  The tortillas can be made by hand from flour, water, a little salt and oil.  The enchilada sauce?  I don't know how to make it!

Better English:  I think you mean "thanks" and not "thinks."  Also, use a space after an exclamation point.

In science, the correct abbreviation for the hydrogen  ion concentration is pH.  So, I use pH and not Ph.  HA!
