Never heard the word "palafox" before?  Join the club!  Neither had I!  Small palafox, known to scientists as Palafoxia callosa (Nutt.) A. Gray, is a common plant of the Arkansas Ozarks growing on limestone.  It ranges from Texas and Oklahoma, north to Missouri and east across Arkansas and Louisiana into Mississippi.  The Common Buckeye (Junonia coenia), a common butterfly is seen here also, feeding on the nectar of what I call Palafoxia.
