Am I the wild duck too?

 

I used to be obstinate. I would rather die than living as a prisoner. Now, I control my temper, listen to what others say. I am less like me, but more likable. Cut from the natural environment, I nearly forget what I meant to be.

 

The Wild Duck, a play by Ibsen, makes me think. Though it has a simple disguise caused by plain translation, it makes me think. If the end of the story is to live happily ever after, why does truth matter? Truth sometimes, maybe often, fail to bond with kindness and beauty.

 

The pursuit of truth may not be definitely right, but it does require courage.
