Last Sunday when I got off the subway train and streamed out of the exit , my attention was suddenly captured by a chain of uninterrupted applause from a congregation of traffic-goers who encircled a man , on such a chilly afternoon the crowd seemed unbothered by the cold wind and low temperature , the man surrounded was singing the song called shanghai bund which became very popular in mainland china several decades ago and revitalized on account of being rescreened last year , honestly speaking , i was too familiar with the song to pay attention to it , however from the audience hand-clapping can still be heard continuously , i felt a little curious , therefore I slowed down my steps and jostled forward to gain a glimpse of the singer on the street , I was taken aback by the scene presented to me so abnormally and so contrastingly , the singer was estimated at the age of 25 and wore a short and a little untidy hair with a eager and confident and undaunted face ，what shocked me most was that there was none below his waist , I never saw such a maimed body , he made me associate him with the statues of famous people erected in the school campus with a whole upper-body but no legs . in front of him was displayed his performance all over the country and his handwriting which made his strong will to be uncrushed by such maimed body felt strongly by everyone present . many people walked nearer to donate money , I rarely made donations to other people probably due to a miscalculation of human nature , however this time I took out of my wallet and donated a ten-yuan note to show my respect as well as encouragement to him .

human being is probably the most fragile creature in the world , especially in this unstable world lives are easily waived by those whole-bodied men who may feel too pressured to sustain himself or felt humiliated before the crowd or become despired of the whole world , often a forgivable mistake even spawns an unbearable sense of humiliation or useless upon human beings’ minds , it is the case when a boy less than ten years old committing failed suicides only to escape from the humiliation caused by failure in exams , last year I read a piece of news disclosing the suicide of a professor in Renming university who complained of great pressure , when many scholars lashed against the injustice and great inequality dogging Chinese education system , I bemoaned over the unbelievable fragility of human nature .

however we are still the strongest creatures who have exerted great will to conquer the hardship and tried to grasp a firm foot-hold in the life-struggle against fate or life , like the singer on the street , who exhibited his unvanquished strong determination to conquer the maimed body by enjoying a meaningful and fulfilled life .

be optimistic about life , even though life is filled with uncertainties and littered with difficulties .
