Persistent cough can be a harmless nuisance or can be something serious.

Cough for a minute or two, and you may think something has "gone down the wrong pipe." Cough for a day or two, and you may think you've picked up a cold or the flu. After a week, bronchitis or allergies may come to mind. But after three or four weeks, your mind starts to race, and the worry begins to mount. Sometimes you need a detailed checkup to find the reason behind the cough. Should the cough last too long then you should not ignore it.

I am a strong person, but every year around these months of weather change, I cough persistently for 1 to 2 months, but thanks god, the cough eventually disappears without intervention or medicine.

When to worry about a cough?
Although a chronic cough is usually not serious, warning symptoms call for prompt medical care. The symptoms include:
Fever, especially if it's high or prolonged
Serious sputum production, especially yellowish
Coughing up blood
Shortness of breath
Weight loss
Weakness, fatigue, loss of appetite
Chest pain that's not caused by the cough itself
Night sweats
Wheezing

Persistence coughs are cured more easily if you avoid cold drinks, cold or fried food. breathing in cold air, spicy food. Eat more green vegetables and do more physical exercise. Hope your wife would find a cure soon.

Try to find out more about coughs and it is a good idea to see different doctors to get their opinions. Eventually, you would find a cure.

It's a persistent disease, though not a deadly one. I suggest your wife start jogging. As you said, with a strong immune system, many annoying discomforts would disappear.
