I believe if you like reading, you may know George Orwell who is a famous author. In fact, when I was a student, I heard of him but never read his works. At the beginning of August, I bought his two books online. One of them, Animal Farm has already been finished by me. After reading it, I can realize why so many people recommend this book to us. I admit that he is a genius .

Of course, according to the name, you can guess this book is about animals. While you are reading, you will find this is a great fable that is aimed to the adult. This fable is not a happy ending. Besides, when you are reading between the words, you’ll find this is not about animals but about our human beings. Or to be exactly, it tells of how to overthrow the enemy and to make their own system.

The pigs are the cleverest among them and they lead other animals to get rid of the human control and expulse their master. Then this farm becomes their own home and they no longer work for their master and are no more slaves. In the end, their rebellion is successful. However, these animals still need to subsist so they have to work like the old days. They also make some principles of Animalism. One of the most important principles is that all animals are equal. The situation is totally different from before. So they have some difficulty using tool to do something by standing on their hind legs. With the help of the pigs, they often can work out some problems. Actually, the pigs do not work and they order and supervise others to do their own things, hand in hand. And their efforts are rewarded and the harvest is a bigger success than before.

As time goes by, the pigs make others know some animals are upper class and others are lower class. Then some of them get to know that what they do is not for them but for their upper class. The harder they work, the less they get, while the upper class doesn’t work but they get much more than labor animals. When some are against some decisions the pigs make, a pig that can turn black into white often makes others convince that what these pigs are doing is good for them.

When the lower class is busy in doing their work, the disagreement appears among the pigs. The two parties can not agree on anything. At last, the cunning one can succeed in making the other flee from the animal farm. So this farm belongs to a pig named Napoleon. Then you find there is no equal among the animals. Meanwhile the personality cult around the farm prevails. It seems that they forget expelling the human beings and creating their own laws. Most of them are subsisting by doing hard their work. They even don’t remember the old days when their master manages them, even if their lives are not better than before. Without thoughts and ambitions, they just do day and night by obeying their great leader. If they disobey the rules, they must lose their lives. In order to get rid of the tyranny, they set off the revolution and set out to create some convinsible rules and please every one. But this new government doesn't develop well and is getting into another terrible situation--- a totalitarianism.

Finishing this book, I think of our own society. The animal farm is alike the society we are living in. Anyway, this is a wise, compassionate and illuminating fable. It’s worth reading many times.
