- I think that is a complicated question. the answer varies with different perspectives of love and is also closely related to age, personal experience and cultural background. Young girls always seek a boy who is rich, handsome, loyal, caring, romantic, successful etc at the same time, while young boys always seek a girl who is pretty, understanding, faithful, tolerant etc at the same time. As they have more courtship experiences, they may gradually find their previous expectations unrealistic and continually lower the bar to adapt themselves to the cruel reality. For girls they may come to realize that being romantic and being wealthy seem hard to intersect. Even if they do, such perfect man has always already been in the possession of other competitors.
I kind of believe that, as girls begin to grow out of their youthful romanticism, they become more aware of some realistic problems, such as a man's income, family background and potential for further career developement. Imposition of those requirements--I admit reluctantly--is not blameworthy at all, considering the modern societal values. After all, everyone would love to live a comfortable life, being carefree from housing, vehicle and financial problems they may otherwise worry about if they marry a financially less advantaged man.
