Review of The Legend of 1900

Love Piano, which means love death.  The Legend of 1900 is a film related with piano and could move audience deeply from the bottom of the heart.

The man called Danny Boodmann T.D. Lemon Nineteen Hundred is an excellent pianist but never existed. He played the piano in the ship he was born, lived and died in. He has never set foot on land in his entire life. No ID. No passport. No parents. No birthday. Nothing in the world belongs to him except his music.

He can play the piano as if he has four arms. He can use music language to describe others’ feelings. He could beat the creator of Jazz. But he died with the ship and his piano. Because he was born for piano and only loved it in his whole life. Since he found that piano on the ship, his normal life as an individual person was over.

He rejected the record. He could get off the ship and go after fame and fortune. However, he said “I won’t let my music go anywhere without me!”

He gave up his opportunity to start a new life on land and to pursuit the girl he loved. We cannot laugh at him. His destiny is not the real world, but the piano.

“Take a piano. The keys begin, the keys end. You know there are eighty-eight of them, nobody can tell you any different. They are not infinite. And on these keys the music that you can make is infinite. I like that. That I can live by.”  Eighty-eight of the keys, are the only things he can hold in his hands. His friend always described a kind of life with his own band, records, fortune and fame. On the land, piano is a tool to make money. How could a person love piano more than his life to use piano to make a living? This is ridiculous for 1900.

Therefore, there is nothing wrong for 1900 to insist on death. Born, raised and died on a ship, maybe he was registered there. He might find the place of God. The house of God will never be exploded, although he might have to use two right arms to play the piano.

Finally, 1900 did not get off the ship with his friend. The ship was exploded. He loves piano, so he loves death.
