I am wondering why China now is so fond of building new buildings. With so many vacant skyscrapers already existing, people are still erecting new unoccupied ones. Common citizens have no money to purchase. However, fields are engulfed by more and more housing companies at a terrible speed.

When I was in Japan, I am amazed at the old temples and pretty small gardens. I really admire Japanese people’s attitude towards life. They can enjoy a cozy wood house. They will dance in pinky cherry flowers. They are more interested in creating a delicate life, compared with Chinese people’s view that the more luxurious the better.

The whole nation of China is spoiled in this way. The whole nation becomes superficial. What’s success? What’s the meaning of being successful? Someone will say the answer is to be an official. Someone will say the answer is to make a lot of money, which oneself wouldn’t even be able to spend all until his death…people now are focusing on much on material wealth. That’s why there are less and less young scholars; although universities are producing more and more students whose job hunting becomes a terrible task. Few people now have time or patience to sit and read a few pages, and what’s the most important, to think about the world and even his/her own life. In ancient China, there is the well-known phrase that it’s high time for one to be an official when he has become a prestigious scholar. As for philosophy, the only piece that survives is the certain one that money is the golden rule in every field.

The whole nation is now in a rush to achieve the so called goal which is faster, better and stronger. However, the railway is cracked. Many people are still suffering from poverty with more and more money flows into the pocket of only a number of fat-cats. When the quality of almost every food product is in crisis, how can a nation survive with irresponsible men/women attempting to poison his/her fellow?!
