Two Asian Games

Twenty years ago(in 1990), I had the chance of participating the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in Beijing, as I accompanied an important overseas Chinese delegation. There were 37 delegations representing 37 different Asian countries and regions at that ceremony. It was a wonderful time when the fire of torch lighted and shining the the whole stadium, and the theme song made the atmosphere reaching the peak. It was a very successful games, the Chinese delegations got 183 glod medals.
Tonight, the opening ceremony of the 16th Asian Games will be held at 7 pm in the Haixinsha Centre, the Centre is closed to the place where I live and I will have the chance of witnessing fireworks on the world tallest TV tower(600 meters high), the 45 colorful boats taking the 45 delegations to reach the main centre, and the amazing lights of the Centre. Tonight should be another wonderful night not just for the Chinese but for the whole Asia.
China has changed greatly in this 20 years, today our athletes not only doing well in the Asian Games, but also in the Olympics.
Let's cheer together for tonight, and for a peaceful and harmonious Asia.
