- liuzd: Sorry,what's the meaning of PH?I use it for two reasons. First, my name is Philip E. Hyatt. I don't like those initials. The spell PEH. So I shortened it to PH. Also, I am a biologist. The abbreviation pH is used in biology and chemistry. Since it is unique, I chose it in 1969 as an abbreviation for my name, knowing that I was also going to be a scientist!

- liuzd:Yes, pH comes from chemistry. It is written pH and not PH. But chemistry controls biology! So pH is also important in biochemistry. Yes, I am a scientist and writer. I worked for nearly 17 years as a botanist and ecologist for the US Forest Service. Now I help others write scientific papers. I have a part time job editing research papers of Chinese and Japanese botanists and ecologists. I like to say "I translate Chinglish to English."
