A couple of days ago I went to a book wholesale market to buy books, you know, buying books there you can enjoy a pretty good discount.
When I was selecting books in a shop a foreigner came in,she was a girl and had a notebook in her hand ,she showed it to the shopkeeper, the keeper understood quilkly that she wanted to buy some notebooks, but the keeper didnot know how to tell her the right place where the notebooks are sold.she just repeated the words "chaoshi" times, and obviously the foreigner could not catch her mind.
I walked towards them and the keeper asked me if i know how to say chaoshi in foreign language,"supermarket",I said, and this time the foreigner got it,the shop owner then said "sanlou","three floor",I translated,it seemed the foreign friend totally understood, she noded and erect her thumb showing her appreciation to us,then she left.
It was my first translator exprience, only three words did I use,but seemed effective,it let me felt how useful it is to master a foreign language.
