The Runaway Toyota!

The event of runaway Toyota was got more attention in the Unite State. In American, every two people has a car on average, and about 10 million cars are sold every year. It has the largest amount of Toyota's customers, and also has higher accident rate of runaway Toyota!
Some tragic incidents: Mark Sayler, the California Highway Patrol cop, and three members of his family were killed when their Lexus E350 crashed.

Another case: The car drove off a 100 foot cliff. The driver survied, but his wife was killed. In the picture, the car was completely damaged.

All these seriuos accidents caused deaths prompted investigating of Toyota's saftey, and resulted in more than 8 million of recalls globally.
The Departmant of Transportation has investigated acceleration, braking and steering system of Toyata, and comfirmed the defects.
The goverment of United States opened public hearings, and let the drivers give evidence of unexpected acceleration. The picture show a woman emotionally told the hearing her dangerous experience.

The Toyota received subpoanas to explain successive recalls. Although the chief of Toyota came to congress and given deeply sorry for any incidents, the U.S given Toyota a record fine of $16.4m for falling to report defect.

In recent report, 31% of American consider the Toyota is unsafe, and 35% think that Toyota is distrustful.
But 82% of owners still have confidence in Toyota.

Here’s my opinion. The cars seem to have an obvious defect. I am not too worried about it because I don’t drive a Toyota. There’s a saying about such things: “Someone has to die before the problem will get fixed.” Unfortunately, that’s the way these things get fixed. In the 1960s, Ralph Nadar wrote a famous book about a car with safety issues titled “Unsafe at any speed.” A car called the Corvair was very dangerous to drive. He helped force the company to quit making the car. Toyota will fix the problem. But I think every car has safety issues and every road is too dangerous. If I were king, all roads would only have one way traffic! That would be much safer!
