It is not a new movie. It was recommended by my love a few days ago. So I obediently prepared a couple of hours for it at one night. To be frank, I kept silence from the beginning to the end. The movie blew me away.

     There are no luxuriant lines or special characters. He, Ian, is a London businessman. She, Sam, is a New York violinist. They met each other and fell in love like what all couples will experience. For Ian, Sam can cook the breakfast not afraid of being burned; Sam can rush to send Ian the notebook he has forgotten to take; Sam can write a song for her beloved Sam. However the big boy Ian is so busy all the time, forgetting the concert she has prepared for three years, not visiting her family, and not being eager to tell her his childhood and family. But Sam is always so tolerant to him, while the disappointment can not be avoided from time to time. They really love each other but the gap between them can not stop being bigger and bigger.

    When Ian is confused by the love and the life he has, the magic cab driver comes to him, and everything changes from that moment.

    “Well, you know what to do. Appreciate her, and what you have. Just love her.” said the cab driver.

    So Ian went to Sam’s concert with a bunch of roses. But they still get a quarrel at dinner like we usually do. Sam stares at the guy she loves so much with tears in her eyes, “But I just feel that I'm a very high second priority for you. That hurts...” She wants him to know her and care her a little more, but Ian, the guy who do not know how to express his love, said, “I don't understand.” So she left with great desperation.

    Ian wants to apologize but hesitates again beside the cab. Then she leaves and the tragedy occurs.

    Having lost her, Ian suddenly knows he is so ungrateful and indifferent to Sam. He regrets a lot.

    God give him a chance to make it up and when Ian wakes up in the early morning, Sam comes back to his side. Ian tries to change the nightmare and save his love. He wants to listen to her song which she has written for him and for their love; he intends to take her away from the dangerous place; he tells her his childhood and his family; he prepares a surprise for her concert; at last when he finds impossible to avoid the traffic accident, he chooses to die to save her.

    “I have to tell you this and you need to hear it. I've loved you since I met you... but I wouldn't allow myself to truly feel it until today. I was always thinking ahead. Making decisions out of fear. Today, because of what I learned from you... every choice I made was different and my life has completely changed. And I've learned that if you do that, you're living your life fully. It doesn't matter if you have five minutes or fifty years. Samantha, if not for today, if not for you... I would never have known love at all. So thank you for being the person who taught me to love. And to be loved.”

    Ian is gone, leaving the sad Sam forever.

    At first, I was angry about the ending, because I could not understand why God gives him a chance to make up all these things but finally choose to kill him. Perhaps this is the reality and Ian must pay the fiddler. And such an end can be more stirring to give people a warning that we should cherish each other.

    Just cherish the person around you and love him/her! If Only can not always be “if only”. If you can hug each other, don’t just hold hand; if you can kiss each other, don’t only give a hug; if you can say “I love you” to each other, don’t merely say your appreciation; if you wants to have all love from him/her, don’t be afraid of complete sacrificing. That is love which consumes all the enthusiasm without any hesitation and reservation.

    Just learn to cherish what you should cherish now and love who you should love. No more “if only”.
