It is a special year for Guangzhou because Guangzhou is the second Chinese city to obtain the right to host the Asian game after Beijing in 1990 and it was the largest event in 2010.  The 2010 Asian Games that began on 12 November and finished on 27 November 2010. A total of 476 events in 42 sports was contested by athletes, making it the largest event in the history of the Games.

People in Guangzhou, the host city of the 2010 Asian games, expect the sports gala will significantly improve the image of Guangzhou. So the mascot of Asian game is five lovely small sheep, their name respectively be ”xiang”, ”with”, ”such as”, “idea”, “happy sheep sheep”.  Chinese people believe that the mascot can bring harmony, blessings, success and happiness to the Asian people. It was designed from a legend about five immortals who took five goals to Guangzhou, each holding an ear of corn in its mouth.

Hosting the Asian game is a chance for development and for enhancing the city’s influence in the world. How to upgrade the city’s layout and build it into a more modern and better-off city were the challenge posed to Guangzhou government officials. It was expected that more than 100000 visitors would stay in the city and use Guangzhou’s public transportation facility during the Asian game in 2010. In order to meet those needs, Guangzhou has built large-capacity pubic transportation facilities, such as buses and subways, railways and seaports.

There is no doubt the Chinese people will present to the world a successful, splendid and unforgettable Asian game. For me, as a volunteer, it was a happy and exciting moment. I enjoy my time as a volunteer very much. it was an unforgettable short-term mission experience.   Before I go to be a volunteer, I was looking forward to working as a volunteer for the Asian game. It was a good chance for me to communicate with foreigners and improve my English. I felt very happy. Not only I can see so many foreigners come to china but also I can learn more know ledges about Asian game.
