Should Graduates Get Jobs or Further Education ?

835 views. 2010-5-22 13:06 |

Every time, I want avoid it when I heard someone talking about postgraduate study. I have never thinking about postgraduate study in that I want to live independently and reduce my parent’s burden as soon as possible. Maybe, you don’t agree with me at all and think I’m not wise. As we known, pursuing postgraduate study will give us time to learn more and enhance the quality of education. Meanwhile, since China adopted the policy of admitting more students to universities, the competition in the job market has become quite violent. Every year, universities turn out hundreds of thousands of graduates, but there are simply not enough jobs for them. Of course, serious situation, however, I still extremely suppose stepping into society. I can make use of the next one year to gain a better understanding of society and to graduate again. I hope by the end of graduate, I will have matured, and will be better equipped to contribute to society.

It depends on what you want to develop yourself! Some jobs need more experiences, so you should work first to gain some experience; while some others need more theoretical knowledge,so you need further education!

First a few thoughts on English:
You wrote . . . >>I have never thinking about . . .
This is past tense: I have never thought about . . .
It if was present tense, it would be: I am not thinking about . . .

>>As we known,
Present tense because we "currently know this".  I would say "As we know, . . . "

>>to learn more and enhance the quality of education.
to learn more and enhance the quality of our education.

>>become quite violent.
Violent implies physical struggle.  Perhaps you mean "intense."

>>I still extremely suppose
Perhaps: I still strongly believe

>>I hope by the end of graduate, I will have matured,
I hope by the time I graduate,

Now my thoughts on graduate work.  My parents did not have the money to help me in college.  The US government gave me loans, grants, and work to support myself.  I started graduate school but I had problems.  My professor moved away the first time.  While I was attending the second college I attended for graduate school I was in a car accident and broke my right wrist.  I am right handed.  I quit graduate school a second time.  Fourteen years later I started graduate school again.  This time I finished!  I received a master's degree.

Why say this?  Because graduate school is an important and personal choice.  One professor said it this way to me.  If you have a college degree, banks will be a little interested in helping you borrow money to buy a house.  If you have a master's degree, they will be very interested in loaning you money.  If you have a Ph. D. they will ask you if you want to borrow money!  The more education you have the better you can compete for work.

Lastly, I am currently working at a low paying job at Walmart.  But I work in the part of Walmart I enjoy because of my college degree.  Another employee wanted my job before it was offered to me.  That told that person, "It is a matter of qualifications. He is simply more qualified" and they hired me instead of someone else without a college degree.
