Break Up on Chinese Valentine's Day

"Lovers always break up and make peace repeatedly, but we
love each other more as time passes by", I still remember the lyrics from
Leehom's song named Our Song. However, it's different for me this time.
Our relationship lasted for 5 months and ended with a fierce quarrel
after the Chinese Valentine's Day, which is also my birthday. Sadly,
we're the exception which love won't grow gradually---it decreases after
every fight.
In total, we have broken up for more than 5 times,
most of which put forward by him. According to his words, he had been in
love with me since 7 years ago, when we were junior high school
classmates. He choose to hide his feelings for me and we lose touch
after graduation. About a year ago he began to talk with
me online...
As I recall the whole "love" thing, I find myself
still not rational enough to distinguish
real love from memory. Certainly he has his beautiful memory about the
girl he liked at the age of 14 or so, but I don't have! Thus, our love
loses balance at the very beginning. He was passionate and impulsive as
his dream came true. In comparision, I'd like to make love slow and
steady. We couldn't agree with each other less.
My friends, I'm really upset for this experience, I feel
I'm not handling it in a good way.
Should we love somebody only by
memory? 'Cause you know that people can change all the time.
Expectations are hard to meet.
