Among all kinds of novels, “LUST, CAUTION” is my favorite one.
The novel is about a torrid affair between a collaborator and a spy. A group of patriotic students designed carefully to use the honey trap to assassinate of the   Secret Service’s chief, Mr. Yee. They were ready to assassinate Mr. Yee in the jewelry shop, but the Wang Jiazhi reminded him to escape at a critical time. In the end, the organization was damaged and all the participants were executed. Even Wang Jiazhi could not escape.
Eileen Chang was good at portraying the women in men’s eyes and the emotional worlds of women. Eileen Chang devoted her 50-year writing career to focusing on the human nature, especially the weakness of human nature. In this novel, the human nature or the weakness of human nature embodied 0n Wang Jiazhi. Between love and performance, Wang Jiazhi had no clear understanding of the purpose and means. Sometimes, she regarded the performance as a purpose and treasured the feeling, satisfaction, excitement and vanity brought about by the performance. And this is the reason why she said, "every time with Mr. Yee is like to having a hot bath, obliterating the depression. So when Wang Jiazhi read Mr. Yee’s love from his proud, pleased but not showing expression, she released Mr. Yee provisionally.
Eileen Chang portrayed Wang Jiazhi as a patriotic student, who was willing to sacrifice her most valuable love, but at the critical moment, Eileen Chang restored her into an emotional woman.
When I first read the novel, I thought that Eileen Chang didn’t arrange the plot properly. How can she put narrow personal feelings above national interests and distort the young student’s patriotism? However, when I recalled the definition of women in the world’s culture history ,such as "a woman is an emotional animal" ,"For most women, 'love' means ' be loved”, "Women become weak as a result of love", I thought that the novel at least reflected a psychological truth. For some women, love is her whole life.
