Something about My Major

786 views. 2010-6-18 23:14 |

This week is ordinary in the season of graduating, but it’s full of coincidences.

Monday, my optional class lecturer showed us a famous TV program, which tells us some majors have been considered as the hardest major to find a job and only make less money, including my beloved major---English.

Yesterday, I attended a report made by five excellent students who have been admitted by some famous universities to further their studies. After the report, I could conclude that it’s hard to go further study and it’s nearly impossible for me to find a favourable job during my fourth year in my university.

Today, I watched a documentary----The Graduates. It tells three graduates’ experience of tasting all hardships when they hunted for their jobs.

The three different types of information have totally made me frustrated. I have to ask a serious question to me----What should I do now? I’m afraid of facing with unemployment after graduate. I have no work experience, no relationships and no economic basis except for some books.

Thinking over those information, I find four important points which may help me.

The first is setting goals. I must deal with some problems such as what kind of job I want to settle, how much money I can accept as my salary, and what is the hardest situation I can stand. All of those are unknown, so I should have a clear mind on whether I will go postgraduate studies or hunt for a job, or go for a civil servant. However, it’s really hard for me to decide. As a result, what I can do now is enhancing my knowledge and my skills.

The second is about the attitudes toward our major and our school. An excellent graduate who has been admitted by Beijing Foreign Studies University said, “ We know Beijing Foreign Studies University is very famous, but its fame was accumulated by its excellent graduates. So do not complain about your university, just ask whether you could be an excellent student”. Her words impressed me very much. In my view, it is the same with my English. If I cannot study well, I won’t perform well in my future. All my fates are grasped in my hands.

The third is we should have a balanced mood. We cannot overrate us. What we paid today decides what we will gain. Sometimes an unbalanced mood will do harm to many things. If we have that emotion, we should revise it as soon as possible.

The last point is perseverance. One should insist on his goal, said by those excellent graduates and the unlucky ones.

Finally, more or less, they find their ideal positions.

If I could do as the four points, I would make things better.

Seems you've already found method of adjusting yourslef, great!
Don't forget to put your theory into practice!
For example, if you think you are lack of working experience, then take this summer vacation as a good opportunity, try your best to experience more interviews concerning your major!
Hope you good luck!
