Travel in History

636 views. 2011-4-26 09:55 |Individual Classification:travel|

Last year, several days before the Spring Festival,I went to Xi'an and spent a week there.Looking back, the main feeling about this trip is that travelling in Xi'an really likes travelling in history.
Everywhere in Xi'an,you can find ols-styled buildings.Towers, turrets and attics, they are everywhere.Even the Xi'an train station and office buildings are attics-styled.At first,I was quiet excited to see them, which have often appeared in costume drama, but gradually I got used to it and stopped taking photoes with every attics I met.

To many tourists, the Terracotta Army is the site that they will never miss.I thought the same too, however, after visiting Huaqing Hot Springs and the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, the Terracotta Army seemed rather boring.I am not saying it is not worthing visting, but without a guide or interpretation, one can hardly appreciate the real charm of these warriors while places like Huaqing Hot Springs and the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda,or the Qianling Mausoleum gave tourists more freedom to appreciate and explore. You just need to walk around, see the old sites, appreciate ancient people's excellent skills and wisdom, and feel the magic yourself. You can know the secrets of YangGuiFei,one of the four beauties in history by using the spring water in Huaqing Hot Springs yourself and get a full view of Xi'an by taking staris to the top of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. What's more, next to  the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, there is a large square with the largest fountain in Asia which projects water high into the air, rising and falling in time to music during one of the daily performances (usually at noon and soon after sunset). It is especially beautiful in the evening.
Food is another thing that makes Xi'an so attractive to me. Steamed dumplings stuffed with craBmeat,Pita Bread Soaked in Lamb Soup, stretched noodles, numberous delicious snacks are all wonderful in taste. The Huis street displayed all kinds of delicious food and walking through the street always got you hungry.

When you return to your work place, you will find that you were not only travelling in history, but in time. No other cities preserve as old an era as Xi'an does. I always wish to visit the place and enjoy food there.
