Xinhai Square is the largest urban public square in Asia.It was built to commemorate the return of Hong Kong to China. The square's marble columms are 19.97 meters tall,a subtle tribute to 1997 which was the year of Hong Kong's return. The square is 239.9 meters across, representing the year 2399 that will commemorate Dalian's 500th anniversary.A special relief sculpture entitled The Road carries the footprints of a thousand Dalian residents. The first queue of people making footprints were born in 1899 and the last queue were born in 1999.This piece of art expresses the idea that it is the people Dalian who have made it what it is today and have shaped it throughout its one hundred years of history.
This summer I had the chance to play for a little while at Xinhai Square.I loved the wide horizon and the clean beach.
