Our Southwest University

Our university was smiling to me when I came back from the holiday of Dragon Boat Festival. Fresh air, green trees, birds’ singing… All these made me easy and comfortable. The pictures when I first stepped into the campus in 2008 impressed me so deeply in my mind that I recalled it again.

It was September. Passing by a forest and another, I found many old buildings stretching ahead of me. Among them, there was a wooden-structured building with creepers covering it. The university was full of historical culture, but it was not as modern as I had thought.

The too large campus confused me completely because of poor sense of direction. However, I was not worried to be lost. Wherever I went, there were always a lot of senior fellows waiting to offer help.

It can be said that I liked our university at first sight; I fall in love with her now. I have stayed in the campus for almost two years. The longer I live in it, the more I understand the university.

In terms of our university, I can’t help but mention the library. The large amout of collections of books, the old brownish pages, and the narrow iron stairs indicate the long history of our university. However, the reading room for pre-serve teacher students is different. There are a number od books and the newest magazines, newspapers ranging in subjects from psycology to education. The bright lights, the upmarket desks and chairs, as well as the light-green and quiet pillars reflect our modern culture. I like the reading room best because it can give me belief and courage when I am down.

As to teachers, I have met many good teachers since I entered the university. Among them, there are three different teachers---Miss Huang Xuejun, Miss Wang Hong and Miss Zhou Mingming. Miss Huang is the first teacher I have met in university. She led us to an entirely new world. Her masterful teaching skills and her lovely childishness make our class vivid and lively. Miss Wang, good at interpretation, is very fashionable at not only her appearance, but also her thought. She always tells us to explore as many fields as we can and learn to enjoy our life. “I hope you can think as 30 years old people when you are at 20, but you have the attitude of 20 when you are 30.” Miss Zhou, a vibrant teacher from Chemistry Department. Even more than 50 years old, she appreciates the people, the world with her beautiful heart. “Live with the appreciation of the beauty.” “Teachers should guide students to seek and get happiness.”

It is said that people grow up from the surroundings and cultures around them. Students in Southwest University are hardworking, lovely and optimistic. They are serious at study, cheerful and positive at life.

At this time of year, “flea markets” in our campus are extraordinarily bustling with life. Lots of graduates display their books, articles for daily use on the ground in living areas of students. The graduates are very enthusiastic to attract you to buy something. Walking in the markets after supper, you can be affected by the forthright and intelligent students and sometimes you can buy some cheap but useful things.

“Standing at the southwest, learn to travel the world”---is every person’s spirit and pursuit in our university. Our Southwest University will always welcome and raise generations of students with her open arms.
