Am I really doing it wrong?

This morning I took a bus to go to work ,I fell asleep when suddenly a loud cry woke me up.I then tried to find out what happened .To my surprise ,a women's cellphone and purse were stolen and she cried to ask for help and make the driver to stop.The driver did so for about three minutes ,but the other people on the bus began to shout and state all kinds of reasons why the driver shouldn't stop:they would be late for work; you deserved it since you didn't protect your things well; some said she should go to the police etc. I felt sorry for her,but I am to weak or shy to speak out in public,as a result ,I kept silent and said nothing and done nothing either.
I feel terrible and unhappy all day long, am I being very cold and indifferent to others? or am I really doing something seriously wrong?

- In this situation, if your words or actions have no good of improving the condition, then keeping silent is the best choice!
Echoing what others say or vituperating is totally wrong, yet if you try to stop them, the chance of success is very low!
